Olwyn is an experienced educator with over 40 years in schools. She left Hamilton Teachers’ College without a degree and was never going to study again!
She has taught in Hamilton, Christchurch, Central Hawkes Bay and Wellington.
She has been a classroom teacher, an itinerant teacher, a deputy principal and a principal. She has worked in mainstream and special education settings, in rural and urban areas.
Olwyn doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks it.
She has been a change agent in moving a school from ideology to empirical evidence. She works closely with her colleague, Robyn, who is a genius junior class teacher, to ensure theory is delivered that works in situ.
Olwyn's happy place is in front of a group of learners - big or small (but not too small!)
She shares her knowledge in the Kiwi Reading Doctor Facebook group.
Olwyn has a 'can-do' attitude (and will even take on creating a website)
